Johnny Cash Boyhood Home and Museum Dyess Arkansas

Follow
HistoricallyMarked

Legendary musician Johnny Cash lived in Dyess, Arkansas from 1935 to 1950 in a farmhouse with his family. The boyhood home is available for tours (through appointment only), thanks to restoration efforts over the years, mostly because to Cash's surviving siblings. Arkansas State University runs the property, as well as the museum inside the old theater.

First I take you inside the theater, administrative building, the site of Johnny Cash's high school (where he graduated in 1950) and finally, the boyhood home. Unfortunately, I was not allowed to take videos or flash photography inside some of those places. But I hope this gives you a look at what to expect when you stop in Dyess.

Highly recommended to any music lover and fan, whether or not you are familiar with the Man in Black.
