Jonathan Miller - What's in your house?

World Harvest Church Online Campus

It is so easy to focus on what we do not have instead of what we have.
From 2. Kings 4:17 we read about a widow and her sons that were about to taken away from her. The woman did not have anything, BUT a little jar of oil. The prophet Elisha arrives and she told her about her situation.

The widow really did not have anything. But she shifted her focus from the woman's approach to her response. Because she included "a little jar of oil", it changed everything. The prophet told her to get hold of all the big jars she could get, and God provided the oil until there were no more jars.

Our approach to everything matters. No matter if you are looking for a job, meeting your dream mate or landing a plane, you will blow it up if your approach is wrong. Therefore, there is something to be understood by the power of relationship and connection.

The prophet is asking her another question, "What's in the house?".
As a pentecostal, we may be tempted to say "by faith", but true faith is not the denial of reality. True faith is acknowledge of reality. The woman said, "I have nothing, BUT..." There must be a BUT to your faith. Perspective is everything. God provided for her because she added what she had.
