Joranalogue Audio Design STEP 8 / in-depth patch examples

Follow
BRiES

In this video I go through 8 basic uses of STEP 8, the new sequential tracking and sampling register by Joranalogue Audio Design. There's examples of sequencing, hocketing controller, a shift register, classic sample and hold, sample rate reduction, rhythmic slicer, custom waveforms and clock divisions. At the end of the video there's a patch where I combine different features of the unit to create a pseudo random groove. There's more things that you can use STEP 8 for than I'm showing here, but it's already over an hour long and I think it contains enough information for everyone to get started.

DISCLAIMER: I got this rev.2 prototype to test and to make a video about but anything I say in these videos is based on my experience with the module. Anyone watching my videos probably already knows that I'm a huge Joranalogue fanboi just because all the modules by this Belgian maker are just so fracking awesome. If you don't like excellent build quality, precision and balanced interfaces Joranalogue gear might not be for you... but if you do I consider them to be some of the best modules out there for learning about synthesis techniques, circuits and eurorack in general. Of course my goal here is not to encourage you to spend money or push certain brands or makers, I just want to show everyone what the gear I have can and can't do because understanding how eurorack modules work is (in my opinion) the best gateway to interesting sounds and patches.
