Traditionally, patients with Crohn’s colitis needing colectomy have not been candidates for Jpouch reconstruction due to concerns over recurrence of Crohn’s in the pouch. In the recent era with increasing number of biologics and active surveillance, Jpouch can be offered to some Crohn’s patients instead of a permanent ileostomy.
