The Corporate Transparency Act is suddenly in the spotlight as a paperwork nightmare that just got shot down in court, but only for a specific group of individuals. Millions more will still be required to comply with the legislation, and the Federal Government has said it will appeal the ruling that protects members of that one group, so the fight is not over.

The Corporate Transparency Act is meant to control financial crimes like money laundering and the financing of terrorism, but it will also impact some five million aboveboard companies and individuals, such as real estate investors with LLC’s or other kinds of entities AND the CPA’s or attorneys who handle their affairs. And violating the Act could add up to tens of thousands of dollars in fines and jail time. There are also strict deadlines to comply.
