Kane Lake sits at an elevation of around 9,200 feet and is in one of the most gorgeous mountain cirques in all of Idaho. This incredible hike to an unbelievable alpine lake is probably the best near Sun Valley and Ketchum. The hike to Kane Lake isn't very long or strenuous at 4 miles and around 1,700 feet of elevation gain. The road to the trailhead keeps a decent amount of would be hikers away. The trailhead is only 25 miles away from Sun Valley and Ketchum but the dirt road requires at least an SUV. Be prepared for washed out roads early in the season. If you have the time and vehicle to get to the trailhead, then this incredible alpine lake should not be missed. In addition to the pristine turquoise water, Devils Bedstead East and Devils Bedstead West tower overhead throughout the gradual incline to the lake. The hike to Kane Lake is a great way to get away from the hustle and bustle of Ketchum and Sun Valley. Kane Lake is definitely an Idaho classic that should not be missed.
