Today I explore a new system and bagged a nice feed of a tasty estuary species, the Dusky Flathead. The day started off freezing cold as I made my way across the bay before the sun greeted me coupled with a very chilly westerly breeze. I intended to catch top of the tide in my kayak so I could explore with confidence.

At this time of the year, you can find clean water in most estuary systems up and down the Queensland coast line and when you time it right, you end up having a perfect session like I had.

I was joined by a fellow yak angler Mat and his mate. We had hit a bit of a quiet time mid run out tide but stuck it out to dead low tide, the last part of this video was a lot of fun!

This video is quite a long one, however, I hope you appreciate my go with the flow unscripted story telling style. I start with an empty roll of film and capture as much as I can on camera to piece together an adventure I hope you can sit back, relax and enjoy!
