Strange 12V yoyo Kia EV6 (and other Korean EVs)

The 12V battery is continuously charged only to 8285% SOC, then over 82% the 12V battery is often charged only during deceleration, its voltage jumps to 14.514.8V during deceleration and braking (when there is surplus of kinetic energy).

When accelerating, the 12V battery is often discharged for a moment, helping the DCDC converter and HV battery in launching the car from standstill or during acceleration. This probably cuts the overall energy consumption, but the 12V battery chemistry suffers from constant chargingdischarging, the 12V battery will not last long.

EV6 all sensors more details:

HVAC compressor is used for air conditioning and as a heatpump: "[DATC] A/C Compressor" (var.1 and var.2 show the same compressor)

Coolant 1 electronics and rear+front motors (up to 100°C!)
Coolant 2 battery loop
Evaporator air conditioning gas
cabin temperature and humidity sensors

KIA EV6 has normal pink coolant for both cooling loops (battery and electronics)

Hyundai Ioniq 5 has two coolants:
normal pink
lowconductivity blue (very expensive!)
/update MY2025 only normal pink/

EGMP platform has 3 coolant pumps (Electric Water Pump):
LTR EWP1
LTR EWP2
HTR EWP (electronics)
but Car Scanner shows only one EWP electric coolant pump (maybe in electronics loop?)

Interesting Ioniq 5 / EV6 heatpump in winter works down to 21°C (5.8°F) ambient temp:
   • Test av forvarming og lading av batte...  

In some cars during AC charging "VCMS AC Inlet 1 temperature" may reach 100°C/212°F, then AC charging will stop (error: P1BAD00 readable with Car Scanner). In 2023 cars (and after software update) cutoff is 115°C/239°F.

Electric Oil Pump: the EGMP platform directly sprays a mist of cooling/lubricating oil using Electric Oil Pump (EOP) onto the coil inside the rear drive motor to more effectively dissipate heat. EOP in rear motor may fail without any error code! You will get limp mode in RWD and only front motor will work in AWD. You should compare requested/actual EOP speed in Car Scanner.

After changing Connection profile, preloaded Dashboard will not follow. You nee to do this: Settngs / Dashboard / Reset Dashboard to default (it will erase your existing dashboard, save it first).

Settings Interface Units: turn HP to kW
activate GPS speed and GPS location (GPS Altitude as sensor, GPS location on Google map in Data Recording)

Settings /Dashboard / Choose background image: select Ioniq5 or EV6 photo, but say NO to question "set all items background to transparent"!

Charging speed in Kia EV6 and Hyundai Ioniq 5 drops when battery is cold ("coldgate" below 0°C, 10°C, 15°C, 20°C and 25°C) or too hot (max module temp over 45°C). If IONIQ5/EV6 does not preheat the battery en route to a CCS charger, charging takes more time in winter.

minimum temperature of the battery pack:
below minus 5 °C charging speed 30 kW
over minus 5°C charging speed 43 kW to 50 kW
over +5°C charging 67 kW
over 10°C charging 73 kW
over 15°C charging 115 kW
over 20°C charging 180 kW
over 25°C charging 215 kW

Car Scanner shows 16 battery temperature sensors 1 temperature sensor for 2 modules (32 battery modules in 77 kW battery, 30 modules in 72 kW Ioniq 5) and bottom sensors 17 and 18.

Max Battery Temperature is NOT the temperature of the hottest 116 module, but something else (probably equally important) in the battery pack.
