Kia EV6⚡12V fluctuations u0026 ICCU EOP EWP (Electric Water Pump) - E-GMP cars: Ioniq 5 Ioniq 6 EV6

EWP turns off briefly during acceleration! Really wondering how rapid EWP interruptions and hectic 12V voltage/current fluctuations affect pump longevity and ICCU.

UPDATE: global ICCU recall is indeed related to the EWP and peak voltage: #7359.CV/CV eGT ICCU LDC FET Protection Logic Improvement EWP, Vpeak (Vpeak is peak voltage). "The ICCU may become damaged over time from transient high voltage and thermal cycling resulting in a DTC P1A9096 stored."

EOP (electric oil pump) failure in rear motor turtle mode in RWD, only front motor works in AWD, issue is unrelated to EWP yoyo, discussion on EV6 forum:

EGMP platform has 3 water pumps in the cooling system, but Car Scanner shows only one EWP.

The ICCU is cooled during AC charging by one of three EWPs (not sure if CarScanner shows just this EWP). Relation between EWP and possible ICCU failure (EV9 service bulletin):

in Car Scanner you can compare several EWP and EOP parameters, for example:
EWP requested vs. actual RPM
EOP requested vs. actual RPM

Electric Oil Pump EOP (rear drive motor) sprays a mist of cooling/lubricating oil onto the coil inside the rear drive motor to dissipate heat. A failure of the EOP will result in loss of rear motor power in AWD cars, or turtle mode in RWD cars check this Technical Bulletin:

Last thing the HVAC Inverter seems to be running very hot between 80 and 106 Celsius. Anyone knows why?

This car had the latest ICCU software update (Hyundai: „257“, Kia: „SC302“, Genesis: „021G"), which allegedly modified on earlier yoyo 12V strategy, but the trip efficiency got slightly worse. Someone should test it before/after ICCU update in Ioniq 5 / EV6 (Car Scanner main screen ECU Identifiers select Onboard Charger: manufacturer ECU software number: xxxxxxxxIES12R000, after ICCU update). But I observed this 12V yoyo many years ago, already in first Niro EV Kona EV and in early Ioniq 5 / EV6 (see my other videos).

Settings Units: switch HP to kW
activate GPS speed and GPS location, if needed (GPS altitude/elevation as normal sensor, trip on Google map in Data Recording)

After app update you can manually update Settings/Dashboard reset Dashboard to default (it will erase your custom Dashboard, save it first)

Charging Ioniq 6 / EV6 / Ioniq 5 is slower when battery pack is cold ("coldgate" below 0°C, 10°C, 15°C, 20°C and 25°C) or too hot (max temp over 45°C). If car doesn't preheat battery before DC charger, charging takes much longer

Test results IONIQ 5 / EV6 by Bjorn Nyland, minimum temperature of the battery:
below minus 5 °C charging 30 kW
over minus 5°C charging 43 kW to 50 kW
over +5°C rate 67 kW
over 10°C rate 73 kW
over 15°C rate 115 kW
over 20°C rate 180 kW
over 25°C rate 215 kW
over 45°C rapidgate/powergate power limit

Car Scanner shows 18 battery sensors, 1 temperature sensor for 2 modules (32 modules in 77 kWh, 30 modules in 72 kWh) plus battery bottom sensors 17 and 18.

Max battery temperature is NOT the temperature of the hottest 116 module, but something else in the battery pack. It might be battery bottom sensors 17, 18, or PRA? Battery modules in new Kona EV 2024:    • Battery preheating button ⚡New Hyunda...
