The newlook Kia Picanto ticks a lot of boxes.

But one box that isn't ticked this time around is "fun". That's because the brand has axed the best version of the Kia Picanto, the GT (see my review of the previous one linked below), and instead just offers a couple of versions with a dull nonturbo engine.

Yes, the Picanto (aka Kia Morning) is still good in a heap of ways, including the fact you can get it with a 5spd manual stick shift, or a 4spd automatic gearbox for just $1000 more.

And there are strong driveaway prices for the new 2024 Kia Picanto range, including the base model Sport and the GTLine tested in this review.

More safety tech? Yes. Still a long 7year warranty? Yes. No really good alternatives? Correct...

So yep, if you want a small cheap car, it's the best you can get. But it's missing that one crucial ingredient that it used to have. How sad.
