We transit Germany’s Kiel Canal and enter the Baltic Sea, a dream of ours that has taken several years to realize given the challenges posed by the pandemic. The Kiel Canal holds a bunch of wonders along its 98 kilometer meandering route and we share these with you. Jump on board and watch numerous and varied ships pass closely by us as we make our way first to Rendsburg and then into the Kiel fjord at the other end.

At this point we have been in northern Germany for just five days and we can see their engineering minds at work in the way they have established a robust wind power industry on the shores of their waterways. Impressive.

In Rendsburg, we also show off another German engineering marvel – the Rendsburg High bridge (Rendsburger Hochbrücke, officially Eisenbahnhochbrücke Rendsburg) that is both a railway viaduct and a suspended car/pedestrian ferry transporter, one of only a few in the world!
