Kimberly Campbell, a registered nurse from Atlanta, shared her mother Gertrude's battle with Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD), highlighting Gertrude's achievements as Starkville, Mississippi's first black postmaster.

Gertrude developed diabetes in her 50s and suffered from nonhealing wounds for nearly a decade before PAD led to the amputation of her toes and, eventually, her leg.

After losing both legs to PAD, Gertrude advocated for better PAD screening and awareness, addressing Congress and collaborating with Vascular Cures and other organizations.

Kimberly emphasizes her mother's resilience and aims to continue her legacy by raising PAD awareness, particularly within the AfricanAmerican community, which faces healthcare disparities.
With a family history of cardiovascular disease, Kimberly is motivated to promote research and education to prevent others from experiencing similar challenges.
