We’re excited to share the opening of a special exhibit on January 15 in the Lynn H. Wood Archaeological Museum: “From Script to Scripture: The History of the Bible.” To find out more and plan your visit, go to http://sau.is/archaeology.

This new exhibit—never before displayed publicly—will feature rare, original Bibles including a copy of the 1611 King James Version, the Vulgate, and a translation by Martin Luther. The exhibit will explore the history of the alphabet, the transition from scrolls to books, and the role of the written word—particularly the Bible—during the period of the Reformation and beyond.

In this video, the museum’s curator, Michael G. Hasel, PhD, previews a first edition King James Version Bible, which will be on display. It was published in England in 1611 and is one of only 160 complete first edition King James Version Bibles available today.
