Previously we started our Kingdom Hearts journey as I archived Birth By Sleep which chronologically comes before the first Kingdom Hearts game. Today we archive the original that took the world by storm and though I love Kingdom Hearts 2 more, I still have such fond memories from when this game came out. It also is coming to Steam this week as a pc version so it was the right time to do this.
It was amazing to see the characters from Final Fantasy interact with the characters and worlds of Disney. I remember loving the fact I could meet Tidus, Wakka and Cloud in this adventure. Though I do wish my personal favorite Final Fantasy 9 would have received more love in this title.
The game has a beautiful intro on Destiniy Island with vibrant colors and relaxing music. Then its such a blast to travel to all the awesome Disney worlds and meet your favorite characters. We will meet Tarzan, Alice, Peter Pan, Ariel, Hercules and more.
One of the reasons why I prefer Kingdom Hearts 2 over this one is that the enviroments are sometimes a bit simple or bland. Especially in areas like Atlantis and Halloweentown does this become apparent. Areas are often quite small and lack detail, but in the sequel the areas are way wider and more colorful.
I went on such a beautiful, nostalgic journey when I played this again to archive it and next up we will dive into some of the sidegames like Rechain of Memories and 358/2 days. And then we finally arrive at my favorite game of all time...Kingdom Hearts 2.
