Tributes have begun to flow for Kīngi Tuheitia Pootatau Te Wherowhero VII, the Māori King, who died overnight.

His death was confirmed in a statement on the Kiingitanga Facebook page this morning. Kīngi Tuheitia had recently been in hospital recovering from heart surgery. His passing comes shortly after celebrating his 18th anniversary Koroneihana earlier this month.
