Personenverkehr in Kolumbien findet abgesehen von einem sehr modernen Metrosystem in Medellin (ich war begeistert) fast nicht statt.
Die staatliche Eisenbahngesellschaft Ferrocarilles Nacionales de Colombia wurde in den 1990er Jahren liquidiert und seitdem gibt es den klassischen Personenverkehr nur noch am Wochenende auf der als Museumsbahn von Tren Turistico de la Sabana betriebenen Strecke von Bogotà nach Zipaquirà. Mit einer Spurweite von 914mm (3 Fuß) verläuft die 53km lange Strecke vom Zentrum der Hauptstadt Kolumbiens Bogotà (Estaciòn de la Sabana) über Usaquèn (im Norden der Stadt) auf teils abenteuerlicher Gleislage (siehe Estaciòn de Usaquèn) nach Zipaquirà. https://www.turistren.com.co/'>https://www.turistren.com.co/
Hier hat man Zeit, die in einer Tiefe von 120m liegende Salzkathedrale zu besichtigen, die in die Wände einer ehemaligen Salzmine gemeißelt ist, ehe es mit dem Zug wieder retour geht. Mit etwas Glück zieht eine USamerikanische Baldwin Dampflokomotive aus den 40er Jahren des letzten Jahrhunderts den Zug. Bei uns kamen zwei nicht minder interessante Diesellokomotiven von General Electric von 1969 zum Einsatz.
Wie schon in Peru zu sehen, wird auch hier in Kolumbien vor dem eigentlichen Zug immer eine Vorauslokomotive auf die Strecke geschickt.    • Die Eisenbahn in Peru (mit Machu Picc...  
Colombia – Train journey from Bogotà to Zipaquirà to the Salt Cathedral
Passenger transport in Colombia is almost nonexistent, apart from a very modern metro system in Medellin (I was thrilled).
The state railway company Ferrocarilles Nacionales de Colombia was liquidated in the 1990s and since then there has only been classic passenger transport on weekends on the route from Bogotà to Zipaquirà, which is operated as a heritage railway by Tren Turistico de la Sabana. With a gauge of 914mm (3 feet), the 53km long route runs from the center of the Colombian capital Bogotà (Estaciòn de la Sabana) via Usaquèn (in the north of the city) on partly adventurous track conditions (see Estaciòn de Usaquèn) to Zipaquirà. https://www.turistren.com.co/'>https://www.turistren.com.co/
Here you have time to visit the Salt Cathedral, which lies at a depth of 120m and is carved into the walls of a former salt mine, before returning by train. With a bit of luck, an American Baldwin steam locomotive from the 1940s will pull the train. We had two no less interesting General Electric diesel locomotives from 1969 running with us.
