Koma Field Kit FX: lo-fi ambient thoughts on sounds modules u0026 a love letter to the Koma module.

Hello there.

This is a piece that really started out as a completely regular 3 to 5am practice session. Just sitting up in my attic, headphones on, taking advantage of the strange quiet that 3am brings. Hours before my family woke for the day.

As often happens, I quite liked what I was doing, so I started recording.

The other Field Kit FX video I mention in this video:    • KOMA ELEKTRONIK Field Kit FX Module: ...

I have been doing a lot of shuffling about of modules of late. Trying different things, even going down the more traditional modular "bleeps and bloops" road. I love listening to what others can do with this kind of setup, but it just wasn't for me.

This video looks a little bit at that idea, and how I put aside some rather decent and respected (and more expensive...) modules in favor of slotting back into my case, the Field Kit FX by Koma Elektronik.

Having a little time away from it, and using it now, again, I have realized that I really don't want it out of my rack ever again!

This simple, common practice jam turned into a love letter to that module.

Also used here is the Bitbox Micro from 1010Music. This module is seriously great. I got it to use as, more or less exclusively, a multisample player. It does this easily and it does this extremely well. I'll be doing a video looking at this module very soon.

The Microfreak provides a drone. Maybe a waste of such a capable synth, but when these things aren't planned, these things can happen.

Everything ends up coming out of the Tiptop Audio Zverb.

Recorded on the Zoom R16. I am pushing that thing way too hard. The preamps were never really great, and I've been feeding straight modular signals into it. It seems to be struggling, and can add random crackles and fizz. This is not always a bad thing.

Questions or comments? Go ahead below! I'm always pretty responsive here as I love talking about all this stuff.

Enjoy? Hit the thumbs up/like button! It's always appreciated and helps make the video more noticeable.

And if you have not already, please consider subscribing! This too is really helpful for small, independent, YouTube channels to be seen in the sea of more or less professional and clearly well funded synth channels here that just seem to endlessly put out the same content as one another. You know the ones...

Either way, thanks for visiting and reading this far.

I hope you enjoyed yourself and I hope to see you again.

Cheers.
