Footage of the reburial in Accra of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, the first Prime Minister and President of Ghana.

The ceremony was presided over by the Military Head of State Flt. Lt. Jerry John Rawlings.

A special guest was Mr. Sam Nujoma, the longterm leader of the South West Africa People's Organisation (SWAPO), who in 1989 became the President of Namibia.

Note:

It was the third burial of Dr. Kkrumah who died on April 27th 1972 while in exile in Guinea. Nkrumah was temporarily buried in Conakry in May 1972 until arrangements were made with the Ghanaian military government led by Colonel Ignatius Acheampong for him to be reburied in Ghana. Nkrumah received a second burial in his Hometown of Nkroful.
