Today's subject is about L1 Visa and the process to apply for it for those of you that are Canadian citizens under the new USMexicoCanada agreement, which replaces the NAFTA agreement and has become effective on July 1st, 2020.

Under the new USMCA agreement, the process to apply for an L1 status for Canadian citizens is simplified and expedited. So, as a Canadian citizen, if you want to apply for L1 status, you do not need to get an actual visa stamp from a US consulate to seek admission to the US L1 Status, whether an L1 A or an L1 B status.

Instead, you can go directly to a port of entry along the USCanada land border or to a designated preclearance station or airport, usually the major international airport in Canada and apply for an L1 status with the US Customs Border Protection.
