Conciliation is usually the first stage of every CCMA case in South Africa. This video explains what Conciliation and Con/Arb process is is and how to prepare for it.

What happens at a CCMA conciliation or Con/Arb?

Conciliation is a process in terms of the South African Labour Relations Act where a CCMA Commissioner meets with the parties to determine whether the case can be settled by agreement.

Step by step explained: Process of Con/Arb at the CCMA
Step 1 Sign your name in at the Reception desk of your local CCMA Office. Then wait for your case to be called.

Step 2 – Attend the Conciliation room with the Commissioner from the CCMA.

Step 3 – The Commissioner will then attempt to resolve the case by asking you questions.

Step 4 – Make sure you know your case, have your evidence, and your settlement range.
