At 5100 meters above sea level is La Rinconada, the highest city in the world. It is located in southern Peru, near the border with Bolivia.

It has a very hostile climate and the annual average temperature is 1.3 ° C. However, it is populated by more than 50,000 people.

What do they do there? Most are miners, who seek to obtain gold to financially save themselves. But there are also pallaqueras: women cannot enter the mine and can only search among the materials that were discarded.

All this with very few public services. Trash accumulates and there is no sewage system. In addition, there are problems of crime, prostitution, alcoholism and violence, with a state that is conspicuous by its absence.
