Tra le ormai innumerevoli teorie alternative che riguardano la piana di Giza, negli ultimi decenni ha preso piede l’ipotesi di West Schoch, secondo cui le tracce di erosione presenti sul corpo della sfinge sarebbero compatibili soltanto con millenni di piogge che, come ci dicono gli studi paleoclimatici, precedono di gran lunga l’avvento della civiltà egizia! Ergo, anche la sfinge deve essere molto più antica di quanto generalmente accettato…
