One of the most important elements of the Altai culture is their traditional home ail. This is a wooden structure made according to principles passed down from century to century. Ail is a polygonal building with a flat or conical roof covered with birch bark or straw. The interior space of the house is organized in such a way as to use heat and light as efficiently as possible.

The central place in the ail is occupied by the hearth, around which the entire life is built. Here are also located sleeping places, work areas and a place for storing food. High ceilings and wide windows provide good air circulation, making the home cozy and comfortable at any time of year. In addition, the ail is often decorated with wood carvings and traditional ornaments, which creates an atmosphere of warmth and comfort.
