Lamar Valley is in the Northeastern portion of Yellowstone National Park and is referred to as the Serengeti of the park. Home to bison, wolves, elk, and black and grizzly bears. We were fortunate to see bison and some elk. Our early morning trek to Slough Creek to do some wolf spotting was kinda a bust. They were there, we could hear them, but they were so far up in the hills it was impossible to see them with the binoculars we had…just little dots.

We also took the Black Trail Plateau route, a 6 mile oneway dirt road through hills and forest lands, again hopeful to spot some bear activity, but none was to be had.

The bison were amazing and with Rut Season in full swing, it was best to stay clear of the overzealous Males.
