Landor Street to Barrow Hill via Derby

I know, there is a much shorter route to Derby via Tamworth and Burton but there simply isn’t a path so we must go via Leicester. However, we travel under clear blue sky with the sun behind us on a delightful February day in 2023! Some thoughts on signalling and becoming a train driver. The usual mix of locations, history and what the driver is doing and why. You’ll be better at it than me soon (hey, I heard that ;)).

Addendum

The railway pioneers may have used gunpowder to blast tunnels. Nobel’s “dynamite” wasn’t patented until 1866.

The sidings at Derby should be labelled “Chaddesden”.

For some reason that I can’t explain, one of the opening slides suggests the train goes via Northampton when of course, it should say Nuneaton.
