The main symptom of a hernia is swelling in a particular area of the body. When the swelling occurs in the abdominal wall near the navel, it is known as an Umbilical hernia. Inguinal hernia occurs in the abdomen near the groin area whereas an incisional hernia happens when a prior surgical incision has weakened the abdominal wall.
