"To Search for the Source of One’s River" brings together the works of painters Emerald RepardDenniston, Katarina Holbrough and Olivia Aguiar to explore the condition of each artist walking in circles, never to find the beginning of the path. These artists situate their imagery in the nausea and disjuncture produced through the use of repetitive, seductive aesthetics lacking a nucleus. From Holbrough’s engagement with transcorporeal flora’s to Aguiar’s inwardly folding abstractfigurative works to RepardDenniston’s intimate reflections on familial ties, these works employ sumptuous visuality to explore the tension implicit in each artists’ sense of embodiment and belonging.
