If you are only going to do one backpacking trip in Iceland make it the Laugavegur.

The Laugavegur trail stretches from Landmannalaugar a geothermal area known for it's colorful mountains in the north, to Thorsmork in the south.

Over the 32 mile trail, you have the option to stay in tents or in huts but if you are going to stay in huts, be sure to book early!
