Up until 2003, Laura Jackson was a typical 8th grade girl. That spring, Laura participated in tryouts for her High School cheerleading team. During tryouts, Laura performed a back tuck without a spotter. Despite her experience as both a cheerleader and gymnast, Laura landed on her neck, rather then her feet. Upon being rushed to the hospital, it was discovered that Laura had broken two vertebrae and was paralyzed from the neck down.
