A quest for healthy justice system through a look at the mental health of the justice worker bees is Professor Poitras' newest research project, or law and happiness 101. More women and minorities in the work place, advancements in technology, innovation through the negotiation model of dispute management, the health movement and the aspirations of the youth moving into the firms to take the reigns have all collided to ensure we assess who we are. Turns out, we have issues ranging from bad financial habits to full blown addictions and mental health disorders. All evidence points to the seeds planted in law school and growing into the profession. We are now talking about it. This research is opening up a dialogue on wellbeing for the legal profession and setting the stage for a healthy workplace. She would love to talk about what she has learned and hear your experiences.
