So, layoffs are back upon us and no one has any idea where things are headed. This time it looks like a Reduction In Force (RIF) that is happening across the Tech Industry. Here I am with my wild guesstimates (yet backed by some reasoning and data), on the reasons behind the layoffs in 2024, what it means for us software engineers, and what the way forward is!

We will spend a lot of time understanding the history and some more time calling out the experts and YouTubers who are talking about random stuff & ignoring a dire possibility (the worst case).
And finally, we will talk about the stuff that matters and how to go about it. My suggestions come in 2 forms; one for the freshers (freshgrads) and another for the experienced folks.
