VIDEO DESCRIPTION This painting tutorial will take you through easy to follow, stepbystep instructions on how to paint this summer inspired coastal image of "BEACH BLUE HERON" with a stunning morning glow with the suggestion of a sun rising sky that is casting a glow on the front of the tall bird as it walks across the wet beach sand. You can imagine this ocean scene to be that of a secluded quiet private beach oasis along the sea’s edge. You'll learn simple painting techniques that will help you to create this realistic piece of art with a dreamy peaceful warm summer feel with gentle waves crashing into the sand and warm clouds drifting through the sky. With a graceful posture, the tall imposing feathered crane bird will give the piece life and guide the viewers eye through the painting with the movement of it’s body through the watery sand casting a small reflective image onto the ground. You’ll learn to paint a straight horizon line without a ruler, ocean waves with lots of movement, and fluffy clouds that have depth providing a picturesque view. With a dry brush technique you'll learn how to create dimension and shadows in and around the water with subtle blending of the surrounding colors and properly placed highlights and shadows. The vantage point will provide an interesting perspective on the image. Canvas: 16x20 stretched primed canvas Brushes: 1/2 inch flat bristle (large), #4 round (small)
Acrylic Paint: titanium white, mars black, deep yellow, burnt umber (brown), chrome orange, green oxide, cobalt blue
Other: white chalk, palette, cup of water for washing brushes, paper towel for drying brushes

STEPS:
1. 1/2 inch bristle brush – Paint sky with brown, blue and white
2. 1/2 inch bristle brush – Paint 1st layer of water with brown, blue, green and white
3. 1/2 inch bristle brush – Paint 1st layer of sand with black, brown, yellow and white
4. 1/2 inch bristle brush – Paint clouds with brown and white
5. 1/2 inch bristle brush – Paint 1st layer of waves with tan (created in step 3), black and white
6. 1/2 inch bristle brush – Paint shadows in waves and water with black, blue and tan
7. 1/2 inch bristle brush – Paint highlights in waves and water with tan, gray (made in step 5), white, yellow and orange
8. 1/2 inch bristle brush – Finish sand with tan, gray, blue, green, yellow and white
9. Chalk – Draw outline of bird
10. #4 round brush – Paint base coat of bird with tan and black
11. #4 round brush – Finish neck and legs with black, brown, white and peach (made in step 7)
12. #4 round brush – Finish wing with blue, black, dark tan (made in step 10), brown and white
13. #4 round brush – Finish head with blue, black, white, yellow and orange
14. #4 round brush – Paint reflection with dark tan, tan, white and black
15. #4 round brush Sign with black
