Here we take a colocasia leaf and use a dropper to put water drops on the leaf. We see that the water does not get absorbed but from water droplets due to the waxy nature of the leaf. The waxy nature of the leaf ensures that water flows off the leaves during rain, allowing the leaf to remain in contact with air so that it can absorb oxygen.
