Fitting directional LED lighting to your older locomotives makes a huge improvement – and it isn’t difficult.

Following on from my basic DCC conversion video (   • Adding an 8pin DCC decoder socket.to...  ), I show how to install cheap, bogstandard 3mm bulb LEDs to a late 80s' Hornby Class 37, wire them to my new DCC lighting circuit and how to select the best resistor for the most realistic brightness in the end a 118,000 ohm one.

Tips along the way include using SUGRU mouldable glue to stick the LEDs in place, working out which direction is which, resistor testing with my custommade rig    • Build your own DCC decoder tester  c...   and adding the finishing touches using just regular PVA glue.
