There’s a new way to get medical care in Lehigh Acres. “There’s really nothing we can do in a regular clinic that we can't do here,” said Nurse Practitioner Lee Jackson.

The 36foot mobile health unit is like an urgent care on wheels. It has two exam rooms and will support an advanced provider, nurse, and customer service representative. Jackson can see patients by appointment and walkin. “Infants on up, you know, we can see everybody. Do basic, you know, regular exams, acute visits, medication management, whether it be diabetes, hypertension, basically anything that's needed, even orthopedic, to an extent.”

The mobile unit will be based at Veteran’s Park in Lehigh Acres. “This community has grown considerably and access to care it can be challenging on occasion. We are making commitments to the community in terms of bricks and mortar building, but we really wanted to get a presence out here and start providing some care,” said Kris Fay, the Chief Office of CommunityBased Care.

The unit features 5G connectivity, rooftop solar power, a freshwater tank, air purification system, and an ability to run independently from the power grid, making it a great option for our community in case of an emergency. “If we were to have another disaster or emergency, we would certainly mobilize the unit and move it towards where we need to go in the community and triage the care there,” said Fay.
