A review of the 7740. This very iconic passenger train was released in 1980 at the start of the 12v Grey Era (19801993) and was the flagship 12v trainset until its production ended in 1985 and it was replaced by the 7745. As for the story about the motor I actually bought the motor separately, I got it cheap from a seller in the US ($40 including shipping). I factored that into the total cost of the set. The motor that came with the set a type 1 motor, dated 37 0 was supposed to work, but when I got it it wasn't running and the seller hasn't been very responsive to my emails about a refund or replacement... I may edit this description once everything is resolved so anyone reading this will know the full story. For now, I'm happy running the set with the type 2 motor, as that motor is in very nice condition and because of the production date could theoretically be included in 7740.
