Note: A LEGAL ultralight is limited to 1 seat and requires no pilot certificate to fly. A 2seat "ultralight" is, in fact, a Light Sport Airplane and requires a pilot certificate to fly. There is no such thing as a "legal 2seat ultralight."

Hi, I'm Courtney.

I want to do a bit of inspiring.

It's never too late to learn to fly!

I grew up dreaming of flying.

But, like many of you, it was all talk and no action.

When I turned 60, I realized time was running out.

I did not know a single person who was a pilot.

I searched on the internet and social media for an instructor compatible with me.

Many folks were recommending a certain CFI who was highly regarded.

I asked him if he could help me.

He said yes, and to come up.

I traveled to another state and started taking lessons.

I immediately fell in love with flying, wondering why it took me so long to start.

I was also curious about ultralight flying.

I went to an ultralight CFI in another state.

After a few lessons, I fell in love with ultralights.

It was a dream come true.

I knew right then what I wanted to do!

A few months later, I bought my own ultralight!

I really loved flying my ultralight, and wanted more, so I began studies to become a ground instructor and shortly became a FAAcertified Advanced Ground Instructor!

Next, I began the training to obtain a Sport Pilot certificate.

Now, I'm able to fly other kinds of airplanes!

I've always loved building things, so I began giving thought to building my own airplane.

I began researching for a build project and started buying airplane components and parts.

Working with guidance from a FAA Designated Airworthiness Representative, I soon had a flying, FAAcertified, airplane!

With a thirst for more aviation knowledge, I decided to study something outside of the Sport Pilot wheelhouse Instrument flying!

It was quite a challenge, but I am now a FAAcertified Instrument Ground Instructor!

I'm now working on becoming a Sport Pilot Certified Flight Instructor!

In the last 5 years, I've achieved 5 major flying goals, with more on the way.

You can achieve flying goals, too!

I hope I'm a bit of an inspiration to help get you started on your dreams!

I'll see you in the skies!
