Since my friend Elliot over at The Retro Future posted his videos on these DMG themed limited edition gameboy pockets I just had to pick one up for myself. The only problem was I wanted the one with an LED power indicator and those go for well over $40 in good condition so I waited. And waited. And waited until I found one from J4U on ebay with a very badly burned LCD but that was in otherwise great physical condition. I managed to get the price down to less than $30 including shipping so I was pretty happy for what I paid. But that all depended on if I could even fix it.

Once it arrived I proceeded to peel off the burnt polarizing filter and meticulously remove the adhesive which had chemically changed due to the UV exposure and replace it was a new filter. So how did it all turn out? Was I able to salvage the LCD? Watch till the end of the video to see the outcome ...
