A while ago i made this drum carder for my girlfriend and it has worked great but its quite hard work to use as it needs clamping down and turning the handle gets old fast when trying to do a large quantity. I have most of the components left over from other projects so i decided to make it electric and battery powered so she can use it anywhere she likes. She often dose it in the garden on a nice day so i being battery powered will be perfect for that. the battery life is around two hours so she can do about 4 or 5 large batts of wool on a charge.
