Lincoln University, Christchurch (New Zealand)
Lincoln University (Māori: Te Whare Wānaka o Aoraki) is a New Zealand university that was formed in 1990 when Lincoln College, Canterbury was made independent of the University of Canterbury. Founded in 1878, it is the oldest agricultural teaching institution in the Southern Hemisphere. It remains the smallest university in New Zealand (by enrolment) and one of the eight public universities. The campus is situated on 50 ha (120 acres) of land located about 15 km (9 mi) outside the city of Christchurch, in Lincoln, Canterbury.

In 2018 Lincoln University had 2695 Equivalent Full Time Students (EFTS) and 633 fulltime equivalent staff (188 Academic, 135 Administration and Support, 65 Research and Technical, 273 Farms and Operational).[5]

Lincoln University is a member of the Euroleague for Life Sciences.

Faculty of Agribusiness and Commerce: accounting, business management, economics, farm management, finance, marketing and property studies.[22]
Faculty of Agriculture and Life Sciences: agronomy, plant science, crop physiology, pasture production, animal science, systems biology, computational modelling, food and wine science, entomology; plant pathology and crop protection; ecology, conservation and wildlife management; evolution, molecular genetics and biodiversity.[23]
Faculty of Environment, Society and Design: natural resources and complex systems engineering, environmental design, resource planning, transport studies, landscape architecture, Māori and indigenous planning and development, recreation management, social sciences, tourism, communication and exercise science.[24]

Lincoln University’s unique history combined with more recent contemporary growth in the wider landbased disciplines means we now occupy a specialist position covering globally significant areas of learning. It is the rural–urban interface of agribusiness; elements of biology and ecology; land, air and water resources management; production processes; marketing; transformation and use of food; spatial planning and landscape architecture; consumption and human wellbeing; and recreation and tourism. The University’s overall focus is transforming land, people and economies.

The Lincoln campus is located about 20minutes south of Christchurch, on the east coast of the South Island, New Zealand, in picturesque and parklike 58hectare grounds. This campus provides a supportive, multicultural atmosphere. With a student population of approximately 3,500, representing over 60 different countries, this is an easy place to make friends

The Telford campus is located 6km from Balclutha, South Otago, on a 921ha commercial farm and is where vocational subdegree qualifications are offered in the landbased sectors. Dedicated to skills development for those in the rural sector, Telford has been training people within the agricultural sector for over 45 years.

Telford offers practical training in rural business, agriculture, rural animal technician, stock and station, equine, forestry, horticulture, and apiculture (beekeeping). Telford offers real farming experience for livein students.
