Little Greek president Vojnovic on how restaurants keep ‘dodging bullets’

Nick Vojnovic, president of fastcasual Mediterranean chain Little Greek, talks about the state of the restaurant industry with Nation’s Restaurant News editorinchief Sam Oches during the 2024 National Restaurant Association Show.

In his brief podcast interview, Vojnovic managed to frame most of the challenges bearing down on the industry, including for Little Greek as it continues to make headway in hot markets like Florida and Texas.

Inflation is putting pressure on food costs and labor costs, he said, but he’s advising his franchisees to hold off on menu price increases for as long as they can. Consumers are still trading down from casual dining or up from quick service, but once they get scared off by higher prices, it is hard to win customers back, he said.

Vojnovic added that there are no easy answers, but he’s optimistic that industry suppliers, technology vendors, and restaurant employees can work with operators to weather current difficulties and succeed over the long term.
