According to Ghana’s Diaspora Affairs Office, approximately 1,500 African Americans settled in the West African country since 2019. That year marked “The Year of Return” initiated by Ghana’s President, Nana AkufoAddo, inviting people of African descent from around the world to come home. These new arrivals added to the estimated 5,000 African Americans and 4,000 Jamaicans who settled in the country in recent decades. Jamaicanborn Rique Kofi Ennis is one of them. This week's Caribbean Today interview is a Black History Month feature that seeks to find out why some Jamaicans are settling in Africa.
