On the 21st of November 2019, two days after his 40th birthday, British born Ben went for an endoscopy as he was having difficulty swallowing. Thinking it would be nothing he was then diagnosed with oesophageal cancer by the doctor performing the procedure before even leaving the examination room.

Ben and his family were told that his cancer was treatable but incurable and in March 2020 he was given 12 months to live. He tried to live a healthy life style but through sheer luck he has managed to outlive his prognosis.
