Just bought the M720 in an amazon deal to replace Logitech M705 Marathon mouse. The M705 has a 3 year battery life with 2 AA Batteries, the M720 has 2 year battery life with 1 AA Battery. The performance MX has a 10 day or 2 week battery life dependent on use and houses a single rechargeable NIMH AA battery. You can also opt for Logitech M350 and Logitech M590 which offer Bluetooth support as well as a dongle for 2 devices. Then there is also a more portable solution at a higher price and this is the MX Anywhere series which I believe also offer multidevice support via Bluetooth and Nano Unifying Receiver, though I do personally believe for extended use the M720 and M705 are more comfortable.

MX Series has a faster laser as well as darkfield support which allows you to use it on glossy and shiny surfaces, so may be better suited for gaming though I would recommend a gaming mouse if your main use if for gaming. You can also get multidevice and Bluetooth support on the new MX Master series if you wish to opt for the bigger more practical mouse for home or office use and don't care too much about portability.

Of course price remains a factor and the M720, M705 and M350 are much more affordable than the MX series.
