Pushing the boundaries of maps in Power BI with Icon Map

This session will cover a deep dive into the capabilities of the Icon Map visual for Power BI, looking in detail at the different features available in the beta version of the visual.

Through use of back to back demos we'll explore the different capabilities including:

custom background layers
WMS tiles
displaying images on the maps
mixing images, circles and other objects
GeoJSON layers with drill down
going to the next level with Well Known Text (WKT) and SQL Spatial

We also cover what's next for Icon Map and why isn't it in App Source (yet).

James is a director at Altius, recently acquired by Avanade UK&I, and manages a team of Power BI and Power Platform consultants. In 2020, he was one of five to be awarded by Microsoft with the FastTrack Recognised Solution Architect recognition.

He is a Microsoft Data Platform MVP and cohosts this meetup, the London Power BI User Group.
