I lead WWII History Expeditions through the Aleutian Islands and one of our stops is to visit a lonely B24D wreck located 1100 miles southwest of Anchorage along the Aleutian Islands, on an island called Atka.

This lonely Liberator plane wreck, serial number 402367, rests quietly where it was skillfully landed on a crisp by Captain John Andrews and Louis Blau on a December evening 82 years ago. It is now a National Historic Landmark. Its extremely remote location means it does not receive many visitors. Fortunately, I have been three times and am excited to share its miraculous story with you.
