Long Dead John Deere 1010 Moved To The Shop

This little John Deere 1010 has been sitting for many years and it needs to be given a little attention. The focal point of this video is merely the physical moving of the dead tractor to the shop by use of another tractor. It's a simple move that has been done many times before on this channel.
Its going to be enjoyable getting this thing to run once more. It is a 1961 model tractor. JD pretty much stopped production of their signature 'Popping Johnnies' in 1959. This model 1010 began in 1960 and ran for a five year period with only around 4500 built during that time. The big change the formidable company made with this tractor as well as other models in 1960 was the change to four and six cylinder overhead valve engines very similar in design to many other manufacturers at the time. Though the venerable two cylinders were and still remain very popular, JD had to change with the times to maintain their share of the international marketplace. Their reluctance to change was not unlike the Japanese motorcycles that had to abandon their two cycle street bike engines in the early to mid 1970's for the more efficient and ecofriendly four stroke two and four cylinder engines.
So this little guy wasn't necessarily the first JD to sport the newly styled engine, but it was one of the first to do so. And as they say....'The REST is history". Hang in there and in a few days there will be updates to the ongoing saga of the Long Dead JD1010 . #johndeere, #tractor, #kubota This is a link to a friends channel you may want to take a look at. He's got a few different tractors and enjoys every one of them. He is always sending me links to some interesting things and the following link is one directly connected to this little 1010:    • Deere Day in Dallas
