Happy 40th Donkey Kong!
This is an MSU1 based patch for Donkey Kong Country 1. MSU1 is a custom music processor designed by the late Byuu/Near, known as the BSNES and Higan creator. It allows the SNES to play high quality music.
Jammin' Sam Miller's excellent DKC soundtrack restorations were of course a no brainer to mod into the original games!

Donkey Kong Country is a classic, and the entire series is arguably the greatest platformer series of all timeyes, I would put them above Mario. All five games are known for their difficult but fair level design, fast flowing gameplay, collectathon elements, moody and detailed atmosphere, and of course the music, usually provided by David Wise. The first game doesn't really lean into the collectathon style unlike its sequelsthe bonus rooms are admittedly tacked on, and you don't even need to beat them to count towards 101%, and the bosses aren't particularly great, but it's still a better game than most.

It was kind of tricky patching the rom. I needed to get a DKC 1.2 rom, patch it, download the msu files into the same folder, and then rename the rom to dkc_msu. As you can see (and hear) though, the results were worth it.
