Lost in Space, a quintessential American science fiction television series, was conceived and brought to life by the visionary Irwin Allen. Airing on CBS from 1965 to 1968, the show drew inspiration from Johann David Wyss's classic 1812 novel, The Swiss Family Robinson. Over its threeseason run, the series captivated audiences with 83 episodes and secured its place in television history by ranking third among the top five new shows of the 19651966 season in a TVQ viewer poll. Although it did not win, it was nominated for a Saturn Award in 2005 for Best Retro DVD TV Movie and received a nod from TVLand in 2008 for Best Robot. The show featured a notable cast, including Guy Williams, June Lockhart, and Mark Goddard, whose performances left a lasting impact. Sadly, time has taken its toll, and some of the beloved actors from the series have passed away. Today, we honor their memory and celebrate the enduring legacy they have left for fans around the globe.
