The subjective exam of a physical therapy evaluation is one of the most important parts of an evaluation.
The information that you gather from your subjective drives what tests and measures you will gather for your objective exam. There are specific questions you want to ask in your subjective to help you differentiate between diagnosis
Information that’s valuable from this specific example:
1. Pain onset = 3 weeks ago
2. Mechanism of injury = lifting
3. Aggs = standing, twisting
4. Ease = sitting, walking
5. No AM/PM pain pattern
6. Hobbies/activities = lifting, cleaning, golf

Typically, you want to have the patient move in this order (to avoid unnecessary position changes) = Stand, Sit, Supine, Prone
